Our Founder Mr. SM Subbiah, born in the renowned Chettinadu in South India, is a multifaceted businessman with diversified business experiences. His successful business stints include his pioneering in trading of Kirloskar Engineering products, pioneering in the field of mining of exports of Natural stones and his continuing success in the Jewelry business.
Our Co-founder Ms. Meenu Subbiah is a qualified Diamond Jewelry Designer, Diamonds Graduate and a Gemologist. She is the first South Indian Diamonds Graduate from the reputed Gemological Institute of America (GIA), USA. She had an extensive training in Jewelry manufacturing at Dubai. She forayed into the Jewelry business at the age of 19. She is fondly referred as “Vaira Meenu” ( Vairam in south Indian language – Tamil, means Diamonds ). She is the first Jewelry designer to revive the Chettinadu’s Jewelry Designs. Her passion to do things differently, she has her own School of Jewelry designing at Chennai.
The in-born business interests and in-depth technical knowledge enabled the management of this company to keep abreast of the market trends and maintain competitive edge at ease. Today, the group has evolved as ‘Subbu Group’ of companies – Meenu Subbiah Diamonds (MSD), Subbu Diamonds (SD), Subbiah & Dhirajlal Jewelers (SDJ) and MSD Jewels LLC. We take pride in our positioning tag ‘Ultimate Expression of Love’.
MSD has retail showrooms at Chennai and Coimbatore. SDJ has retail showroom at Karaikudi. SD has the state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Chennai. MSD Jewels LLC was incorporated at USA in 2019.
